If you are intimidated by the thought of working with a trainer I completely understand. My three year journey of weight gain should have been a two year journey. My fear was that I was going to be asked to do things I couldn’t do, I didn’t want to do, and that I would dread. And I also thought I was going to get injured or not have the energy. I’d be embarrassed… Fear kept me in this endless cycle of dieting, exercising, failing, frustration and feasting. Sound familiar?
The car accident occurred in 2013, on my son’s 12th birthday. Immediately the pain radiated through my right shoulder and up my neck. I received weekly massage and was on pain medication. This only resulted in temporary relief. After a year, I eventually began physical therapy and after a few months and being diligent in my exercise and stretching homework I found relief. Unfortunately, my road to weight gain was well under way. There were several other factors that contributed to this perfect storm of a nightmare that resulted in a 60lbs weight gain. Including quitting smoking and the start of the delightful journey called menopause.
Here’s the thing that took me a long time to figure out. Many many fails to lose the weight helped me realize this – that I don’t know how…. I keep failing because I don’t know how to lose weight, I don’t know what healthy eating is, and I haven’t a clue how much and how long or which exercises to do. In fact, I don’t even know how many calories to eat. The internet, books, articles, magazines… they aren’t looking to provide you with the facts. They are looking to sell their product. Period. I convinced myself that Skinny Pop was just air, I can eat as much as I want. I promise you, if you are earnest in losing the weight and you try to do it on your own… before you know it your efforts will result in you being at the nearest drive through in complete and utter despair – starving, confused, ashamed, and defeated. And it’s not because you are weak, or lazy, or lack will power. It is simply because you don’t know how. And whenever I need something fixed that I don’t know how to fix, I contact a professional who does know how.
Enter Jim at MaxResultsTraining. He was very sympathetic to my predicament but he also became invested in me. He wanted me to succeed in my weight loss journey. He never waivered, he believed in me and even when I didn’t believe, when I resisted and I moaned and groaned…he listened and he just did his work… In six months, he brought me from a scared, resistant, can’t do mindset to a woman who is 50lbs lighter, leaner, and able to burn anywhere from 500-700 calories in an hour. I struggle to reach my recommended caloric intake… I am never hungry. I am confident in what I am eating, and I know how to exercise, lift weights and how to push myself just enough to be able to be better and faster, and stronger… I know I can do it. Jim showed me I can do it. Every time I thought I couldn’t do it, he proved me wrong and I have never been more excited to be wrong in my life. My only regret was not starting sooner.
